SCARLETTE WHYTE
Founder, Director
Scarlette has spent more than a decade in television production. She is currently the director of professional development and diversity initiatives at CBS News in Washington D.C.
Although Scarlette is in the television news industry, she has a passion for helping expectant mothers receive the proper prenatal tools to have a healthy pregnancy and baby. Her journalism career taught her how to dig in, find the facts and give a voice to the voiceless. She launched with the Shades of Mommyhood initiative to help combat the high maternal mortality rate among women of color.
Scarlette is frequently sought after for her expertise in television news. She has guest lectured at prestigious universities throughout the United States. Scarlette resides outside of Washington D.C in northern Virginia with her husband and children.

DR. CALVIN WASHINGTON, M.D.
Board Member
Dr. Washington is a practicing family medicine doctor based in Wiggins Mississippi. He also specializes in hospice and palliative medicine. Dr. Washington has practiced medicine for more than 20 years and is board certified through the American Board of Family Practice.

DEBRA WHYTE, RN
Board Member
Debra Whyte is a registered nurse with more than 20 years of experience in the Metro Detroit area and is excited to serve on the Shades of Mommyhood Board of Directors. From working bed side with patients, to educating nursing students at Eastern Michigan University, to managing an Intensive Care Unit, she prides herself in making sure there is equal health care treatment for everyone.

DR. KEVIN STEPHENS, M.D., J.D.
Board Member
Kevin U. Stephens, is a board-certified Obstetrician and Gynecologist who has been in private practice in New Orleans East for over 14 years. Dr. Stephens is currently the Chief Medical Officer of the UnitedHealth Group. He previously served as the Health Director for the City of New Orleans. He has served previously as the Women's Health Medical Director for the Office of Public Health in the Department of Health and Hospitals for the State of Louisiana.

CHERYL ALLEN, RN
Board Member
Cheryl Allen is a registered nurse. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from the University of Detroit Mercy. After her 13 years in clinical research at the University of Michigan Medical Center, Wayne State University, and Rush Presbyterian St. Luke’s University Ms. Allen went on to continue her career working in the field of nursing with the federal government. Ms. Allen is passionate about community outreach and community health services. A former public health nurse Miss Allen enjoys working with others in the community promoting preventive health and healthcare services. Ms. Allen believes that an educated citizen is a healthier citizen.

PHALLON TREECE
Board Member
A Michigan native, Phallon holds a dual Baccalaureate in Sociology and Healthcare Administration, an MPA in International Health, and a Certificate in Disaster Resilience Leadership (DRLA) from Tulane University. Considering herself a global citizen, she has participated in many projects having to do with international health, health policy, immunizations, mobile medical clinics, and preventive medicine, COVID-19 Testing Consortium. In 2013, Phallon spent time in Geneva at the World Health Organization as a part of the Evidence-Informed Policy Network (EVIPNet) while also in collaboration with the Afro-European Medical Research Network (AEMRN). After living in Europe for some time, she has returned stateside with her family. Phallon currently resides in Highlands Ranch, Colorado with her husband and four children. She has spent the year serving with the United Nations Association of the United States of America (UN-USA), Women in Global Health, and Public Health Advisor for Human Dignity International.
